Advent2

This year we want to encourage our oneChurch family to not only recognize Christmas but to experience it in a fresh way. For some, you have done something similar to this before. For many, this will be about beginning a new Christmas tradition around Jesus’ Birthday!

Here’s how it will work:
Choose a time each day for your family to meet, read, talk and pray.

Here’s are the items  you will need:
An Advent Wreath
Five Candles (3 purple, 1 rose, 1 white)
Bible and readings list
Nativity set
Advent Calendar

On the first Sunday, begin your time together by lighting the first purple candle known as the prophecy candle. It was a sign of the longing for the people of Israel who were waiting for their Savior. As you light the first candle you can talk about Jesus being the light of the world. Read the Advent reading for Sunday, talk about the scripture, have a time of prayer, and end having someone blow out the candle. Light the same purple candle each night of the first week and follow the same plan.
